Features:
One room is furnished with a queen sized bed, (on risers for generous underbed storage), 2 dressers, three fold-open shoe holders mounted on a wall, a tall book case, (not shown) a desk and chair. (Desk in photos on this ad is not the current desk) Floor is hard wood, (disclosure; in admittedly less than excellent shape). Room has 2 windows, 2 closets. Photos below.
Double doors shown in photo do not open, there is a large built-in bookcase on the other side of them in the living room, (this bedroom was originally the dining room).

Other available room, (suddenly available, my room mate has to move back to the west coast to look after an ailing relative), has a bay with 3 windows, a trundle bed (so you can sleep a guest), large dresser, nice comfy chair with matching footrest, built-in dresser with hutch, free standing closet (can be moved around to suit your taste), antique coat tree, small desk and a colour tv. (I will update with new photos soon)

Apartment has high ceilings, is on the 2nd floor of a 3 floor house. No elevator in building. Forced hot-air heat.
Options:.
Coin-op Laundry in basement
Shared high speed DSL internet connection; about $15/month.
Cable TV; if you want to have it hooked up you can. We don't watch much TV.

House is on Allston/Brookline border, 2 minute walk to MBTA (Green Line Harvard ave/Commonwealth intersection) and Bus (#66), not so close that you can hear them though. Apartment features shared eat-in kitchen with new gas stove, new large microwave and toasters, bathroom (w/ tub/shower, & rubber ducks), living room, with TV, VCR, and DVDR, no cable, we really don't watch broadcast tv.
Apartment decor is eclectic but classy, ( the kitchen does have rather a lot of Wonder Woman toys in it...) Many restaurants nearby, and a "Staples" office supply store just down the road. House has decent sized useable back yard/garden, and room for your friend's visiting car in the driveway.

Requirements:
To move in you need 2 months rent initially, first and last. No security deposit. Also required; proof of employment. Personal and business references, at least 3 in total, and we may ask for a co-signer.
No Smokers, no hairy/feathery/uncaged/poisonous pets. No dogs. we had one well mannered and quiet cat, but she is moving out, alas. Apartment does not smell like cats live here. This is a non-smoking building for Insurance (and health) reasons. The forced hot air heating system means the 3 apartments are effectivly one shared atmosphere. Really no smokers.

Your new room mates:
We are 1 male; artist musician/carpenter live-in landlord/superintendant, and 1 female; college student/Starbucks Barista, who is literally almost never home, sleeps at her boyfriend's house about 95% of the time. Our ages are 20's-40's. Our departing room mates are leaving on good terms to go to grad school in DC, and to look after family.
You Must be a Non-Smoker, reasonably tidy, not a heavy partier/drinker, no druggies, right-wingers, bigots, blue meanines, you must also be sane, rational, reasonable, very responsible, gainfully employed (or independantly wealthy), & have a sense of humour. (Geeks welcome). Gay/straight/bi, whatever. There are practicing musicians living in the house, although one doesn't often hear them. We recycle and share house cleaning responsibilities.

We'd really prefer someone without a car, but do have room for one and will consider putting up with another vehicle for the right room mate. (right to park in tandem driveway subject to additional monthly fee, some on-street parking available) Please take a moment to tell us a little more about yourself than this person did:
"I am a male professional, very clean and quiet."
You want the key to our house, tell us about yourself, ok? :)

to schedule phone interview/viewing. Be sure to include contact information, email, phone number and best times to reach you.

Due to the proliferation of international scammers using craigslist, and for contractual reasons with the estate, we cannot accept international offers. We will not be able to offer this room to someone who can't come in person to look at it and meet us prior to the first of the month. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Take a tour of Stately Möbius Manor, I made this page when I was looking for a new room mate, but I found one. -Of course at some point I will need it again, (oh look, that time has arrived ), meantime you can still peer into the home of a mild eccentric.
